Six Squirts
I’ve been laughing at simple things today. A good laughter really doesn’t need any complicated, carefully planned & planted jokes to manifest itself – it can be just two words and a simple hand gesture at the exact right moment, and I lose all control, laugh out very loudly, clap my hands together and make high-pitched happy noises. Today those hand gestures and two words were as follows:
Oh, how I adore, appreciate and worship genuinely funny folks with quick wits. Some of them are my friends, some of them are just ordinary bypassers on the street, some of them are the drunks at the pubs, the celebrities in their thousand interviews, my dog (I swear, he makes me laugh several times a day), my dad, some people on the internet with too much time on their hands.. Oh, how I live for the precious moments these people gift us with in our everyday lives.
(By the way, I don’t expect you guys to laugh at this specific jpg or even at the video / interview it’s taken from. I just wanted to come up with a reason to post it, so that one day when I randomly read back my old entries, I will find it and laugh again. I will, however, give an appreciative high five to anyone who knows what it’s about. SIX SQUIRTS!)
(EDIT: I forgot to add this!! It’s a video about the polar bears dealing with spy cams. I almost peed myself when the camera thing took off on its little wheels trying to escape the bear. Bzzzzzz BOING!)
Oh and hey, it’s 2011 in less than 24. Have a very, very, very good year everyone, and REMEMBER TO ENJOY A GOOD LAUGH EVERY NOW AND THEN!
Veijarit – the movie
So, in a few weeks, I can officially demand an IMDb page for myself. Movie still photographers can have one, right? I hope so, since it’s secretly been one of my goals in life, just like getting one tiny photo published by Natural Geography – ok, I wouldn’t mind them publishing more than one. You gotta aim high you know?
Veijarit the movie is coming out in December. You can book tickets here, and see a couple of photos I took. The quality’s not quite as good as in the originals, but even the originals could be better – 450D just couldn’t handle all the darkness. Wish I had my 5DmkII back then already! Well, next time. There’s always the next time. Better equipment makes things easier, I give you that, even if it doesn’t make you a better photographer in any other way.
In other news: Tarja & Cristiano got married today. YAY! I went to take a few photos & to have an afternoon wedding meal with them and a few friends. Good fun. And now I’m off to take some artsy fartsy photos in an old attic – this one’s for our photo assignment of the week. It’s related to certain song lyrics. Luckily, I have Jenni to do all the posing, since I hate self-portra.. no wait, I generally hate being in front of the camera.
Hence the being behind it.
Off now, ta-ta, write to you later!
Tonight!!!

Inconsiderate shit from Discovery
How can this be possible? Her face and name make me think of a redneck wild animal killing enthusiast who doesn’t have any respect for the nature or wildlife, the opposite of everything I love about Discovery / Animal planet.
Discovery Communications usually celebrates nature and wildlife, but by signing a deal with former governor Sarah Palin to host a reality show about Alaska, it will now pay millions to one of wildlife’s greatest enemies.
As governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin fought against protecting the Cook Inlet beluga whales and the dwindling population of polar bears. Plus, she escalated the bloody aerial wolf-killing campaign, and even planned to offer a $150 bounty for the severed forelimb of each killed wolf.
The same company that owns Animal Planet and is known for their stunning wildlife-focused shows has no business hiring someone as anti-wildlife as Sarah Palin. Tell Discovery Communications that Sarah Palin doesn’t deserve to host a show about “the powerful beauty of Alaska.”
