15 vocalists

January 23, 2011 - 4:22 pm No Comments

The rules:  Don’t take too long to think about it.

Fifteen vocalists that will always stick with you.  List the first fifteen you can recall in no more than fifteen minutes. (It took me over an hour, is that ok?)

TIIA’S BONUS FEATURE - adding links to songs.

1. Thom Yorke (Radiohead)

Do I have to write his name 15 times or is this ok? Yeah ok. The rest come in random order. Also, 15 is clearly not enough, since I have to leave SO MANY FAVOURITES out. How about listing 50?

2. Chris Cornell (Soundgarden, solo, Audioslave)

3. Michael Stipe (R.E.M.)

4. Ed Kowalczyk (Live)

5. Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots)

6. Marko Saaresto (Poets of the Fall)

7. Karo Broman (Manboy)

8. John Mayer

9. Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins)

10. Matthew Bellamy (Muse)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zc2R5U_Eqxk

11. Kelly Jones (Stereophonics)

And a surprise choice! But just LISTEN to the guy. Dear heavens.

12. Adam Lambert

Oops. Lacking females. Let’s throw in a couple.

13. Alanis Morissette

14. Skin

And my latest girl crush. I would turn gay the second she’d knock on my door.

15. Ellie Goulding

So there you have it. Nothing new, nothing surprising, but that’s how I am with these things :)

Knights in White Satin

December 8, 2010 - 1:15 pm No Comments

Woops! Took me a while to update again. I just can’t seem to find my inner enthusiastic blogger anymore. I’ve done this for years and years and at some point I actually had to keep myself from updating several times a day. What was going on back then? I don’t think I had anymore exciting thoughts and trips and gigs and stuff going on in my life than I have now. Or maybe I did. Maybe I’m just living in this fantasy world now, thinking I’ve got sooo many things going on I just don’t have the time to write about them.

Right.

But yes. Stuff has been going on. Aside from my usual animal-abuse-worrying, desperate-future-planning, insane-vampire-related-book-devouring home life I’ve actually gone out too. I spent a weekend with Jutta at Fiskars, photographing stuff for the village itself and to a lovely restaurant. Imagine! How perfect is this: they make a delicious dish of heavenly food, I take a few shots of it AND get to eat it! I think that’s awesome. (I think I’m going to start photographing vodka bottles next, and beautiful houses in California, some silkie chickens and Adrien Brody. You know. To get to keep them afterwards.)

Ok, so just visit Fiskars if you have the chance. It’s just a wonderful, beautiful place that not enough people know of.

Last week I went to see this artist I really like (he’s called Olavi Uusivirta – very Finnish), to take some live photos. Bumped into some guys I was working with this summer, one thing led to another, and soon I realized I was suffering a 2-day hangover. Outrageous! Not fair! After all, we were just singing and dancing until 9am next morning..

I really don’t like getting old. It sucks! My mind’s still 16. Why is my body twice the age?! Grrr.

Yesterday was fun too! Me and Satu, we went to see Green Day play “live” in a movie theatre, on the big big screen. Well, as we learned afterwards, the gig wasn’t actually a live broadcast from Germany, but we might have thought so.. It was so very odd to watch a band on stage without dancing, singing (well I did some yodling along), clapping, shouting “YEAH!!”, stagediving (honestly, we do that a lot – not), rushing into the first row (that we sometimes do). Instead of all that usual stuff we ate popcorn and did some happy giggling.

It was all very NOT rock’n'roll, but as I said earlier, also very comfortable for the elderly such as us.

After coming home from the “gig” I went out to take some photos, and later had to update my Facebook status with the following message:

After spending more than an hour photographing up-to-my-knees-SNOW in the dark, for fun, fingers toes frozen blue, I realized once again I’m doing something I truly love. And it’s my job too! Utterly fantastic.

So, that’s some nice stuff – liking my job. The results of my snowy adventure can be found here: Meanwhile In Finland – photo gallery

A fun link for the day: A very, VERY funny story about dogs not understanding basic concepts – might even be funny to non-dog owners. Excellent usage of MS Paint!
A movie link for the day: Cowboys & Aliens (trailer) – can you believe it? Cowboys and Aliens, and it’s exactly that! Seems so bad it must be good.
A love AND a music link for the day: Matt Cardle sings Knights in White Satin. Yes, knights. I have no idea why they haven’t corrected the title yet. Anyway. He’s going to be my X Factor boyfriend, just as Adrien Brody is going to be my Hollywood boyfriend. (I do think I will be needing several Hollywood categories to fit all my actor-y loves, but I’ll figure that out later.)

Well, THERE! Two weeks’ worth of updating. And LINKS! I hope you weren’t foolish enough to actually click on all of them. Quite nonsensy. (Is a word now!)

New layout

November 11, 2010 - 12:45 pm No Comments

Ok, I get easily bored. Hence the new look. It’s easier to change the blog theme than it is to move furniture around once a month. (EDIT, 6 days later: got bored of the new one. Now back to the old one! Hahhaa.)

Our fun little photo project is now officially open for viewers and fans. Be one! You can find it on Facebook by clicking THIS LINK. We have loads of fun ideas for the future, altho we’ve had a little trouble keeping up with the due dates so far. We will be better in the future, I promise! Also, feel free to leave a few ideas for assignments.

Happy about: Getting to use the word ‘hence’.
Listening to: Shinedown
To do -list for today: Buy new memory card for the camera, paint a little.
Fun links: Just making sure you’ve all seen these: 10 Things I Hate About Commandments, Old Spice man part one, two, three, and last but not least, four. (There are more Old Spice commercials on YouTube, but also a lot of parodies and fakes.)

Stings & Laughs

November 10, 2010 - 12:01 pm No Comments

M is watching some concert on tv, and right now Sting’s on stage. Oh lovely Sting! I still can’t quite wrap my head around seeing him live. I’ve never ever been a fan, I’ve been the basic “yeah a few good songs” -kind of listener. Then I heard his Symphonicities tour was coming to Finland and just knew I had to see it. I actually won the tickets from a radio show on the last day possible – CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? I wanted to go so bad, couldn’t quite afford the ticket in time, and DING. I was actually lucky enough to win two.

I wrote about the gig (in Finnish) earlier, and here’s the translation: AMAZING. Tears, happiness, flabbergastiness. (Is that a word? Is now.)

Anyway, back to today. I thought I’d spread some smiles – well, these made me smile. Hope they have the same effect on you:

1) For once, I could live with an advent calendar: click.

2) World’s cutest bomb squad: click.

3) A boy I’d like to adopt:

Take that, reporter!

In my next life

May 6, 2010 - 12:57 am No Comments

..I am going to be productive. Creative. Hard-working. Inspirational to lots of people. Kind to all living creatures. I will never be jealous, never lie or cheat, never complaint about anything. I will MAKE. THINGS. HAPPEN.

In this life, I’m just going to be lazy and skip some of those things. Maeh.

I also wrote this on my new Tumblr account. I have no idea why I registered. It’s like I can’t resist these things. Heavens help me..
